MEREDITH WELCH
Hello!
My name is Meredith Welch
I am a PhD Candidate at Cornell University in the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy.
I am on the 2024-25 job market.

I am an applied microeconomist studying issues in labor economics, the economics of education, and consumer finance. A large portion of my current work focuses on the ways that student loan policies affect vulnerable borrowers’ labor market outcomes, financial health, and overall well-being. I also have projects that study the interaction of higher education policy with social safety net programs and the causes and consequences of gender disparities in education and the labor market.

I am a Dissertation Fellow in the Consumer Finance Institute at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and a recipient of the 2024-25 FINRA Investor Education Foundation Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
